2022 Holiday Gift Guide
The holidays are upon us which means it’s time to get serious about finding gifts or coming up with your wish list. It’s hard, stressful, and emotional (dealing with crowds, Christmas music, cheer)… we’re here to help. Below are our favorites from this year. Some you can find right here at Haus of Mourning, others you can find on the wild world of the web but all are sure to be a success.
Jewelry– Jewelry is a tough one, you want to send a message that you like someone either a lot, a little or full on love them. Here at Haus of Mourning we have great options for everything in between.
- Laurel Wreath Memorial Pendant, $195. These are customizable, and
since it’s a pendant, you don’t need to worry about size. Have it engraved with “Carry Home” for your Gun Club fan significant other that travels a lot, “Let Love In” for your Nick Cave crush that you’d like to make it official with, or a name with a life and death date to memorialize someone recently lost.
- Mix and Match Single Earrings $40-$65. Give a single or make a pair from our selection of mix and match earrings. Quirky and fun and super unique.
- Victorian Gold Buckle Ring, $650. Vintage pieces are great because they are truly one of a kind. This ring is amazing because it’s so easy to wear and buckles in jewelry are traditionally a symbol of eternal love or a never ending connection to those who have passed.
Records– You can never go wrong with giving a record as a gift to any music lover. Plus, it’s a pretty affordable gift (unless you’re giving someone a super collectible first pressing… okay, music nerd).
- Séance! with Zabrecky, $20. This novelty record from magician Zabrecky guides you through a DIY séance. With the
tagline, “If you believe you will receive,” you’re sure to have some fun. Paired with layers of 1970s analog synths the accompanying soundtrack is pretty spectacular.
- Preaching the Blues (2022 Box Set) by The Gun Club, $68.90. A compilation of 45’s that is a must have for Gun Club fanatics. Plus it includes great extras like a fanzine and amazing photos.
Home Décor– While home décor can be extremely personal, there are some things that almost all goths like…
- Haus of Mourning Vintage Crucifix, $20-$50. We have an assortment of vintage crucifixes on our site and they make a great gift for your goth bestie, or Aunt Judy… whomever it speaks to. We especially adore Last Rites Crosses with their hidden compartments.
- The Holiday Spirit Candle by Burke and Hare Co, $18. The obsession with Burke and Hare Candles is real. This goth candle company always nails it on scents and this is our holiday favorite.
Books– Always a great idea to give a music fan a book by (or about) one of their favorite musicians. And they always come out with so many around the holidays, okay, you got us marketing.
-
Faith, Hope and Carnage by Nick Cave and Seán O’Hagan, $23.49. If
you’re a fan of Nick Cave and faithfully follow the Red Hand Files, this book is for you. The book is the result of over 40 hours of conversation between the two on what drives Nick Cave’s life, beliefs and creativity. There’s also a fabulous interview that the BBC did with Nick upon the release of the book.
- Some New Kind of Kick by Kid Congo Powers, $24.66. Because Kid Congo Powers has pretty much played in every cool band ever, you can be assured his memoir is a great tell all. Edgy and perfect for that person in your life that has great taste. Check out the interview here that I did with Kid Congo a few years back.
Clothing– Buying clothes for others is hard, especially when it comes to sizing but here are a few ideas that are generally easier to guess on!
- Haus of Mourning Motto Shirt, $25-$28. Stating simply “It’s Only a Time for us All,” this is a great shirt for the goth in your life. Get it as a t-shirt or muscle tee.
- Haus of Mourning Vintage Blazers, $65-$75. Blazers are timeless and since the look is a bit oversized, it’s easier to guess on what size will work. We have a few classic and upcycled options sure to be a hit.
